Juggling Masses
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Play around with this small, but really fun simulation of planets and their gravitational pull on each other. Try to create a stable planet system by carefully kicking your planets into space. Scale them up or down to change their mass and in turn their gravitational pull on other planets. Let them crash into each other to combine them, but don't let them fall into the sun or the abyss! There is no return.
How to Play
You play with a mouse and keyboard.
- Scroll Wheel: Zoom in and out
- Space: Stop time
- Left Mouse Click and Drag (when time running): Spawn and Charge a planet kick
- Left Mouse Click on Planet (when time stopped): Select a planet
- Arrow Up/Down: Scale the current planet (charging or selected planet)
Engine
This project was entirely built in Rust "from scratch". That means I didn't use an engine or something similar. All the physics, rendering and so on I made by myself. I wanted to show to myself and others what's possible even if you don't use an engine.
GMTK Game Jam 2024
This game was created for the GMTK Game Jam 2024. The theme was SCALE. How does this game fit the theme? The stability of the planet system is highly dependent on the scale/mass of the planets, which can be manipulated by the player. The manipulation of scale/mass is a key part of what makes this game worth to play around with.
Edit
I know it's not great, but on mac version you can't just run the executable normally. You have to start it using the terminal or right-click on file and open in terminal.
